If you own an extensive collection of fishing gear and have decided to trim it down by selling your used fishing gear, you may be contemplating posting an ad for your wares or attempting to sell the items at a flea market. Both of these options could help you raise a little bit of cash, but if you own high-end spinning reels, vintage lures, and custom gear bags or boxes, delve deeper into your options for selling.

Limited Editions or Antique Pieces Could Be Lucrative

Many collectors and business owners who flip purchases for profit are knowledgeable about the market prices of limited edition rods and reels or antique pieces that are constructed of bamboo or carved wood. Before you receive an appraisal for the pieces that you own, sort the fishing gear by choosing which items you plan to hold onto.

Complete sets will yield more money and some buyers are only interested in top-of-the-line fishing gear that contains all of the original pieces. When you are classifying your equipment into two distinct categories (keep and sell), try to piece your items together so that you have all of the parts needed to use the equipment during a fishing excursion.

Photos, Descriptions, and Receipts May Be Helpful

If you want to receive an estimate for how much you could expect to receive if you decide to sell your equipment to a collector or dealer, take some current photographs of the rods, reels, tackle, and accessories that you are selling. Write some descriptions of the items, such as how long you owned them, any problems that you have encountered, and the number of times that each piece was used.

If you have receipts for the fishing gear, then gather them up because one or more of the potential buyers may be interested in seeing how much you paid for the items. You will need to bring the fishing gear along with you when you are ready to make a deal with a buyer, but for the time being, you can offer each private collector or business owner the pictures, descriptions, and receipts.

This information will help each person determine if they are interested in buying what you are selling. You will receive an estimate of how much the individuals are willing to pay. If you are in agreement with the terms, go back to your home to retrieve the gear that is being sold.

About Me
Staying Safe During Sports

When my son started playing competitive sports, I was a little concerned about how he would do. He was smaller than the other kids, and I really didn't want him to get hurt or deal with long-term problems. However, after I made a trip to the sporting goods store, I felt a lot better. They had a huge range of protective equipment, and I was able to outfit him with exactly what he needed.
